Please tell us how you, your family or your community has benefited from Medicaid coverage for dental care, vision care, and transportation assistance:

Please tell us how eliminating these benefits would affect you, your family, or your community: Thankfully, I have not had many family members who have died in my lifetime. This also means that many in my family are very old. Throughout my life I have always relied on my grandparents and great grandparents for so much whether it was a place to stay, someone to talk to, or a ride from school. But, as they are aging their faculties are leaving them. I am watching my grandfather, a doctor and once a professor at UK and UofL, go blind. I understand this happens naturally as we age but despite his age he still has so much to contribute to society and to his family that he will be unable to do without vision assistance he was once guaranteed from his health insurance. Now that he no longer will have this assistance his vision will fade even faster than it was before and it’s hard. It’s so incredibly hard to watch this brilliant man slowly lose confidence in himself and it’s even harder to watch as the state that he so valiantly protected in several wars turns it’s back on him.
