Tell us more about how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected you or your family. A member of my family who had been treated for lung cancer with chemotherapy died of COVID-19 in July.
What do you need to stay healthy and take care of yourself or your family during this pandemic? I am a health care worker: I work in a non-profit public clinic and am at some risk due to age and exposure. Testing, mandatory mask wearing, social distancing and delaying large public events all are necessary. A federal policy based on the best public health science would have saved us health and wealth; it should have been implemented, and implemented even at this late date, it would protect us, help us protect ourselves. I am a landlord; my renters have needed help and gotten it from me or from Neighborhood Place; they have benefited from the unemployment and stimulus payments and, therefore, my business has been protected through the help they got. I am grateful. Financially, because I have a job and a functioning business, I am one of the lucky ones. We need programs that benefit those in the greatest need.
