Tell us more about how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected you or your family. I have depression and anxiety before the pandemic, but it was worse by April when the US started really seeing the effects of the pandemic. I had started looking for work in March and found myself having panic attacks when I’d for to a job interview. I did not have a counselor at the time but started asking my physician for advice on finding one. Since I have Medicaid, I checked my self into the hospitals behavioral unit and they helped me find a counselor that I ended up really liking. Without being eligible for Medicaid, I wouldn’t of felt secure enough to go to the hospital and get help when I needed it the most because I had started to have constant thoughts of ending the constant cloud that depression covers me in. I know not everyone has the security of insurance and it makes a difference in the decision to seek help. Also I’m blessed with family members that care about me enough to help me when they can.
