Federal Comment Period on Medicaid SUD Waiver Ends Jan. 8th

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) opened a new federal comment period for Kentucky’s 1115 Medicaid Waiver amendment for SUD services during incarceration. Comments are being accepted through January 8th, 2021.

The final proposed amendment submitted by DMS included no substantial changes following the state comment period. Responses from DMS to questions, comments, and recommendations submitted by Kentuckians during the state comment period can be viewed starting on page 21 of the proposed amendment.

It is very important for Kentuckians to use the federal comment period to underscore recommendations to improve upon the current waiver amendment in ways that prioritize community treatment and prevent unnecessary incarceration.

To help Kentuckians better participate in the federal comment period, KVH has partnered with Mental Health of America of Kentucky and the ACLU of Kentucky to jointly create a one-pager and comment collector.

Please share our comment collector with your networks and use our one-pager in crafting your own questions, comments, and recommendations.

REMINDER: Comments must be submitted by the federal deadline of Friday, January 8th, at 11:59PM ET.
